Hanuman Films began life in 2000 with the arrival of Paramount British Pictures in Cambodia for the making of Tomb Raider. Kulikar Sotho, Executive Director of a leading Cambodian destination management company (DMC), and Nick Ray, a long-time writer with Lonely Planet Publications and author of numerous guidebooks to Cambodia, were chosen by Paramount to work as Line Producer and Location Manager respectively. Both Kulikar and Nick had already worked on documentaries and film scouts, but the arrival of such a major project propelled them into establishing a dedicated film servicing company, Hanuman Films.
Hanuman Films was formed with assistance and advice from Paramount. After a successful wrap on Tomb Raider, the first major international feature film to be shot in Cambodia since 1964, Kulikar and Nick decided to continue Hanuman Films as an independent servicing company covering the Mekong region. As word of Tomb Raider’s success in Cambodia spread, so too did the reputation of Hanuman Films as the company that would assure a smooth shoot in this up and coming destination. Soon documentaries were approaching Hanuman Films for advice and assistance and before long celebrated international director Jean-Jacques Annaud visited Cambodia to seek locations for his latest film Two Brothers. This period also saw Hanuman Films move into Commercials, successfully making the first major international commercial at Angkor Wat for Dragonair and making the Pepsi commercial for the European Championships in 2008.
In the years since, Hanuman Films has become an established official vendor for the BBC, working on flagship shows such as Top Gear Vietnam, Timewatch Pol Pot, Horizon Pandemic and Around the World in 80 Treasures. With more than a dozen major BBC credits under our belt, we have worked with many leading celebrities including Jeremy Clarkson, Charley Boorman, Gordon Ramsay and Samantha Brown. As well as the BBC, we have also worked on productions with Nat Geo, Discovery, the Travel Channel, ZDF, RTF and a diverse range of film-makers from more than 20 countries.
More recently Hanuman Films has branched out into co-production and full production. We have been working on a new production with Australian film-makers Amiel Courtin-Wilson and Michael Cody. Michael Cody worked with us on Australian independent feature film 'Wish You Were Here" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012. Amiel Courtin-Wilson's 'Hail' was selected for the Venice Film Festival 2011 and has generated a huge buzz as a genre-bending film. Hanuman Films has been working on 'Om Tuk' as a co-production partner and will continue collaboration on this project into 2012.
Hanuman Films is one of the only dedicated film servicing companies based in Cambodia today. We have the knowledge, we have the experience and are ready to share it with film-makers across the globe to ensure Cambodia becomes a leading location for feature films, documentaries and commercials in the years to come. We not only know Cambodia inside-out and how to ensure the success of a production here, but through our extensive travels in the Mekong region, we also know the best locations in Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Running one of the leading travel companies in the Mekong region, Kulikar Sotho needs to have a close relationship with the authorities, the hotels and the transportation companies in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. Writing guidebooks for Lonely Planet, Nick Ray needs to stay ahead of the game in the Mekong region, seeking out lost temples, new beaches and hidden waterfalls. Coupled with a very experienced team on the ground, this makes Hanuman Films a real force when it comes to finding the right locations for a shoot and sorting out the logistics to ensure the shoot runs seamlessly.
Hanuman Films is the most experienced production servicing company based in Cambodia with more international production credits than any other company in the kingdom.

We will continue to innovate, developing new products for the discerning traveller to ensure our tours remain ahead of the competition. We want to make a name for ourselves in the Mekong region, a local company with international standards, competing on level terms with the biggest players in the business.
