Cocktail connoisseur Jack Maxwell took his appreciation for specialty cocktails to a new level when he came to film in Cambodia in 2016 with Hanuman Films. His top moment in Cambodia? – Angkor Wat of course.

We would like to wish Jack all the very best, having just heard that he is undergoing treatment for cancer. The 54-year-old Boston, USA native says he’s being treated in Arizona for non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He adds: “I’m good though,” in typical Jack style.

On Holiday With Your Dad

‘Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father’ Out Now on Netflix.

Hanuman Films worked as the local film servicing partner for the new Netflix series ‘Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father’ in Cambodia back in March 2017. The show is out now on Netflix and Cambodia features in Episodes 4 and 5 of the 6-part series, that also includes Thailand and Vietnam.

Nick Ray worked as Fixer on the shoot and has a couple of cameos in the Cambodia sequences, including the predictable travel writer at Angkor Wat and the rather less predictable demining expert at a minefield being cleared by NGO Apopo using Gambian pouched rats to sniff out the TNT.

“Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father follows the Brit comedian as he finishes the gap year he began in 2009 and had to cut short. Only this time, his travel companion is his unadventurous father Michael. They travel to odd locations and events in an attempt to strengthen their bond.”

Top 10 Female Directors in South Asia

“The 10 Most Interesting Female Directors In South Asia.”

Sotho Kulikar, co-founder of Hanuman Films and award-winning director of #TheLastReel, is cited as one of the “10 most interesting female directors in South Asia” in FeminismInIndia.com.

“Before the Khmer Rouge seized power, Cambodia used to be renowned for its vibrant film culture. In ‘The Last Reel’, first-time director Kulikar Sotho (the first woman to direct a film in Cambodia since 1970!) revisits these days. This tale of a woman digging in Cambodia’s gruesome history by trying to complete a lost film from the 1970’s, is a beautiful ode to the power of cinema and a poignant account of a young woman’s search for recognition.”
